From right after ice out tell mid May, fish the channels they start to warm up first. Look for ones that are small and are where the sun shines on them all day, they will warm up first, also ones with wood dock posts that is a big plus, crappies love hanging around wood. Cast around the dock, dock posts, under the docks, each day is different and they move around. Watch your electronics, pay close attention to your surface temp as you are scouting or catching fish to see what they like. Tip your jig with a minnow or a plastic. On Minnetonka the crappies love pink and white. I like the Thill weighted bobbers, you need less weight for the fish to pull it down and they cast further.
