During the fall transition bass can be hard to find. A lot of the vegetation starts to die so try to find the greenest weeds you can and the bass will likely be grouped up there. Working a frog through the lily pads or over the matted grass is one of the best ways to catch them.

During the early summer, bass will slide out to deeper water and sit in the grass clumps. Lake MacBride is full of grass so it can be difficult to find the areas that are actually holding the fish. I like to flip a texas rigged creature bait or a grass jig. Topwater can also be good in the mornings and evenings.

During the Post-Spawn the bass stay in the shallows and guard fry before moving to their summer locations. The best techniques are finesse baits worked up near the shoreline. I throw a wacky rig, a ned rig, and a popper most of the time. The bast areas are the same ones you found the bass in during the spawn.

During the Pre-Spawn a lot of the bass are still sitting off the bank aways. Throwing crankbaits around laydowns and grass edges towards the backs of the main lake arms can be very productive. As the water warms and it gets closer to the spawn a small shad colored spinnerbait worked along the bank also works really well.

Bass on Lake MacBride typically spawn during late May. During this time the water on the lake gets really clear and has 8+ feet of visibility. Target shallow weedy bays and watch for cruising fish. Cast at them with a wacky rig or a popper.

Bass were up in the lily pads feeding on bluegills and baitfish. Throwing a frog was best way for reaction strikes and landed my P.B. 6 pounder

      Shad

I fished a local derby out here on Sep 24, 2023. This place is fishing pretty tough right now, with 13 pounds winning and 10.5 pounds getting paid. The fall transition is in full swing. Some bass are out chasing shad balls off shore, some are chasing bait shallow, some are using brush and some are on mid depth rock piles. Experiment until you find fish. Junk fishing is a good idea right now, and going shallow with a topwater and a spinnerbait can't hurt.

      Shad

Early in the morning find those active fish busting shad on points. I couldn't get them to touch a walking bait but they did smoke a jerk bait. I was cracking the jerk bait pretty fast. The biggest tip was to keep that trolling motor on 10 and keep following the fish as you see them blow up. Don't be afraid to veer off of the point into 25-35 feet of water because all of the fish chasing shad are suspended.
