April 2nd I fished a kayak tournament here at Lake Marburg. I practiced 3 times prior to the event and did not catch any bass until the day before. I caught one 12' bass on letdowns with a micro jig and a 15" on the same type of cover. Though in the tournament I did not get a bite just like 25 out of 26 anglers. It was very tough with cold clear water. I saw many muskies throughout practice and the tournament but the bass were very hard to come by with 43-48 degree water temp

Post frontal conditions, but a beautiful morning. As it warmed the fish began to bite.

I caught bluegill, small bass, white perch, and yellow perch using a 1.5" slab rap over the weeds in 3-12' of water on the flats/points at each end of Long Island. I had them hitting a 3" swimbait too but weren't getting hooked. Water was 81* down to 15' (thermocline), which then dropped to the 74* at 20' and kept dropping there after (i use a FishHawk thermometer). Please don't target musky until fall with the warm water.

Fishing shallow weeds around Long Island points consistently catching blue kill, perch, and bass each outing with the 1.5” Rapala Slab Rap. Works well fishing the shoreline & weeds also. Water is still well over 80* down to 20’. Please don’t target musky until the fall cooldown. Thanks and good luck.
