Targeted isolated hydrilla clumps and visible grass lines in 10-15 fow areas between the dam and the middle hump. The water clarity is currently a lot murkier than usual, with only about 3ft visibility. The isolated hydrilla/grass patches that grow tall enough to be visible at the surface can hold good-quality fish suspended below the canopy. The unusually dirty water makes spinnerbaits, big swim baits, and loud cranks all good options for fishing these grass umbrellas. There are still fish on beds. After the first wave of spawners, I'm typically one to look for other options/patterns, because word of the spawn brings a crowd to any lake in the area. It's important this time of year to remember: not every fish spawns at the same time. Don't be afraid to check pre and post spawn patterns when everybody else seems to be locked on beds. I was able to boat 5 nice ones in 3 hours, with a few smaller fish mixed in. The StrikeKing Hybrid Hunter got bit a few times too.

Skipping a shad style swimbait up into the new-growth bull-rushes and flooded brush around secondary points was producing bites from roaming late pre-spawners and post-spawn fish. Weightless Berkley Hollow Belly was getting smashed just below the surface.

Hot, sunny days cause the bass to congregate along and within the mid-deeper hydrilla lines. Bites can be found anywhere the hydrilla grows up and lays over (10-20 fow). Heavy gear, braid, and a heavy cover jig is necessary for horsing fish up out of the grass. Punch rigs might also work. Also got bit on a frog, in typical frog areas.
