The frog bite has finally begun! Bass are roaming, so fan casting a frog in shallower areas has worked well. Many fish are not holding to specific pieces of cover, so it is important to not only throw at high percentage areas, but anything where a bass may hide.

Fish a swim jig (preferably white or chartreuse) over and through the deeper cabbage beds (8FOW +) and you will find pike cruising around. You can put up numbers in the thicker grass, but the bigger pike will be out patrolling the deep weed edges.

Fish the offshore reefs for yellow perch from mid December through the rest of the ice season. Fish will be concentrated in depths ranging from 25-40+ feet of water.

If you fish the cabbage with 1/8th oz jigs from opener until mid June, it will produce walleyes. Look for depths between 6 and 13 feet of water. Best baits to use are shiners, fatheads, or plastics.
