Cody Dison won the Big Bass Competition in the Connect Fishing League April Bass Tournament with a 7.42 LBS Largemouth. He also took home 2nd place in the Best 5 event with a total 5 of 20.30 LBS. “The two days that I was on Lake Chickamauga, the fish were in a pre-spawn pattern and beginning to move shallow with the rising water. Water temps were in the low to mid 60s with a good stain. I had a mix of clouds and sun each day with highs in the mid 60’s. I focused on the edges of ditches and channels that were leading into spawning pockets. The key on these ditch/creek edges was finding larger clumps of grass amongst the sporadic grass. All my fish on Chickamauga were caught by slow rolling my chatter bait until it got caught up in the clumps of grass and then ripping it free.”

Bite was post cold front and super finicky. Some bass on beds but seems like most hadnt really kicked into the spawn swing. Bass were deeper along rock piles and boulders. Took third in tournament and big bass all on drop shot on deeper rocks near spawning areas.

Cranking shallow brush and isolated rocks in shallow water was the key. 3ft or less is where all of my fish came from in the backs of creek arm. The water is still rising so the fishing is about to fire up.
