The whities were schooled up by big boulders in 7-9 feet of water. These things slackline a jerkbait year round, which makes them fun to target. they taste great too! Big Stone has no shortage of them either.

Went to Big Stone with the intention of bass fishing, but the water was a little too cool for consistent fishing. We switched gears and targeted walleyes with great success. Fishing really picked up as soon as the sun went down. Pods of walleyes moved onto shallow rock piles in 2-4 FOW and were hungry enough to eat a full sized bass jerkbait. I'm a big Vision 110 guy but was very impressed with the Provoke 106x. Color played a large part as the holographic scales made it easier for those big walleyes to key in on the bait at night. This was my first time using Shimano Mastiff and was blown away. It runs super thin compared to other Fluoro, which allows you to size up in breaking strength while still keeping the same diameter as other lines. Their 14lb is comparable in diameter to other companies' 10-12lb. This is also a very low memory fluoro, which means longer casts and less backlashes. I fished that on a 7' Medium Tatula XT series casting rod, aka the best $100 rods on the market. The 7' Medium is an excellent jerk bait rod. The Tatula 100 kept my casts long and effortless. Tight Lines!
