What's up everybody? This is Polish Pete and I'm here with the Lew's HyperMag. This little gem here is 5.2 ounces. It's a one piece magnesium frame. It's got a six pin centrifugal style brake that's adjustable on the exterior of the reel. This reel in its previous generation was known for being a distance kind of chucker, a work horse type reel. This one I'm hoping with the same style braking system as the same sort of long casting performance. I did get to fish with this thing this fall. This actual reel right here and I threw an A rig on it because I was smallmouth fishing in freezing cold weather and it handled it fantastically. Lots of power in the gearbox in these.
95 millimeter handle carbon fiber, real thick carbon fiber handles, real sturdy one. It's got a thinner EVA Winn grip knob on it. I just started getting really used to the bigger EVA wind knob or the Winn knobs and the bigger ones from Lwe's. They actually grew on me quite a bit and I really like these now too but it's like I'm kind of in between on it so far. The nice thing is is Lew's actually lets you buy whatever knobs you want. I think that's a great thing they do and it's really simple to switch their knobs out. So I've done a lot of trying those big round Winn grip knobs.
But yeah this this this reel at 5.2 ounces being magnesium frame that externally adjustable centrifugal brake is huge. I think most of the manufacturers now have finally figured out stop having to open up the side plate to have to adjust the brake which is a good thing. It's a real performance reel. This is a workhorse reel in their lineup. A lot of their pros say this is their favorite reel and you talk to them privately and just being durable and doing everything you want a reel to do. So if you're in the market for that workhorse style reel but you want it super lightweight and tricked out check out the Lew's HyperMag. [Music]
