 Video Transcript

I'm Brad Latimer, Bassmaster Open Pro. We're out here on Lake Minas Honka. This is where I grew up, cut my teeth bass fishing, and learned everything I know about bass fishing. It consists of 20 smaller bays that are all connected in a series of channel systems. It's a very populated lake, so on the weekends, it's very busy, a lot of wake boats, a lot of pleasure boaters, and a lot of people just out having fun. Some of the structure you wanna key in on is the shallow flats have lots of grass on them. You can find pockets in the grass, or little high spots in the flats. Also, we have a very good rock structure out here. Pretty much every point will have rock on it. We also have the mid-depth grass to anywhere from eight to 14 feet, also can be very productive. It's different than most lakes. It has three or four different water clarity. Starting from the east to west, the east side of the lake is very, very clear. You can see down most days, 6, 10, 12 feet. As you had west, you change water clarity. So it gets more tint to it, maybe water clarity in the two to three foot range. And we also have four dirty base, which you can't see more than a foot. So it's really unique under different water clarity. We're coming into fall now. The shiners and blue gills become more present. Earlier in the year, it's more about craw daddy and sucker bite. One of the techniques I really like for chasing a large mouth bass is just a Texas rig, you know, Senko style bait. You can fish it slowly through the grass, you can skip it up. This lake is plump full of dock, and you can just fish the tops of these weed flats, and you're always gonna catch fish. (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music)
