This just in from our friends at Lew's, we've got a shallow spool version of the Custom Lite. That's right. The very popular Custom Lite. This is my personal Custom Lite right here. Is now available in a shallow spool, which is a great idea. More manufacturers should do shallow spools for lots of reasons. But I'll get into that in a minute. The Custom Lite line of spinning reels has been very popular, very well received by hardcore spinning rod anglers, which have really felt like they've been pinned down to the two Japanese manufacturers. You know who you are. You know who they are. The first spinning tackle on the high level. These guys have come out with a, it's not even that bad a price point. It's spinning reel. It comes into like 6.7 ounces. Super lightweight. Really lightweight. And the drags are awesome. I did fish with them last year. I switched to the Winn knob on mine because I like round knobs. I love that they offer this. I think that should be an easier thing for all of us to do is pick the type of knobs we want. They, we sell them here at Omnia Fishing if you're looking for the different knobs. But, but they come with a flatter paddle more popular style knob, which I don't blame putting on there for sales purposes. You got a shallow spool that does have a rubber track around the middle there that is designed so that you could not have to put backing on. You could tie braid directly to it and won't slip around the spool. That is an effective method. I will tell you, backing is a pain to get it right, to get it to know what the right amount is. If you're running really super thin braided line, the knot for your line to line on the backing sometimes becomes a pain with like half the line you put on there. I've gotten used to it because that's always all the manufacturers love to make reels that hold miles and miles and miles a line that you don't need. And obviously that probably helps out the line manufacturers a lot, right? But we don't need that much line on there, especially not with four pound diameter braided lines and three pound diameter braided lines that we're putting on a lot of our reels. So shallow spool versions out now so you can literally put on just the amount of line on you need to fish and trust me, that's plenty of line, all the line you need to fish, especially with today's lines. Even if you're running straight six pound fluorocarbon or something on this, even though most of us are doing braid to a leader now for all you that still do that with fluorocarbon, this is a smarter way to do it even eight pound test 10 pound test. I don't know why you do 10 on there, but let's say eight and six and four, there's plenty on there and you can switch it out all the time about wasting all that extra line that you never use at the bottom of the school. So kudos to lose for jumping into the shallow school game at a very aggressive price point with a 6.7 ounce reel cool stuff from Lew's. Get your hands on them now they're going to go fast.
