Jason Christie's Flipping Setup

Hey guys, Jason Christie here at Elite Series Pro. You know, over the past 15 years of my career, professional career, I've made a lot of money flipping. And one thing that's kind of stayed consistent in that is the flipping setup that I've used. First of all, the raw Jason Christie flipping right at 7'3" stout on the bottom, got a little bit of tip, allows me to skip it and do things like that. You know, I see a lot of guys out there flipping and 18 lb., you know, sometimes 20, absolute minimum I use is 20. 95% of the time that I'm flipping 25 lb. Shooter. The reason being that is I don't think these fish that are on these targets are line watchers. I think you drop it on them. Doesn't matter what they are. I don't want to be breaking off around a bush or anything like that. So 25 lb. Shooter, 5/0, TK130 Trokar. You know, a lot of the time when I'm fishing baits and the weight kind of varies. I'm a guy that I like the heavier way. A 3/8 is pretty much the minimum. I'd say a lot of my fishing is done with 1/2 ounce. One of the things that's kind of changed over the past few years is the reel. This is the Lew's SP, which is skipping and pitching. The key to this is there's only like 50 yards of line. So when I flip up, you know, and you have an overrun every now and then you don't have to pull off a whole lot of line. There's literally 50 yards. You know, when I'm going to change line, I'm putting 50 yards, only what I'm using and not the whole reel. (upbeat music)
