Hey, guys, Jason Christie here. Elite series pro. One of my favorite rods that I like from Falcon is a Jason Christie 7'3" flipping stick swimbait rod.
The name's kind of changed over the years, but it's a 7'3" extra heavy. And I use this rod for flipping. It's the rod that I was using when I won the Classic, and I've won a lot of money over the years with it.
And what I like about it is I'm not one that I want a really long flipping stick. Like I said, it's 7'3". I'm able to get it in under the docks, under the trees.
But the key to this rod is really stiff here, but it has a little bit of tip where I'm able to feel that bite, let that fish get the bait, and then be able to play. And that's key, if you're using a broomstick from bottom all the way to the top, you're going to lose some fish because it has to give somewhere. And that's what the tip does, is it lets that fish fight.
It's super lightweight and it's tough. Another rod that's one of my favorites is a 7'2". This is a swim jig rod.
It's in the Cara line, but if you notice the tip, it's down almost a third of the rod. This is my open hook rod, swim jig, tube, anything like that, where I don't need a lot of rod to get that hook into the fish. And the cool thing about this is once you get the fish on, the rod is going to do all the work.
It's going to absorb all of that fish fighting. It's easy to cast. And this is a rod that if you're going, you can say you can only have two or three rods.
This is a rod that you can use for a lot of things swim jig, tube, cranking. I mean, the tip is actually soft enough for like a bigger style crankbait. So this rod will cover a lot of techniques.
Another rod you'll notice here, the first two were Cara's. This is an Expert. I don't use a lot of the Experts, but in the topwater series, this one just has the right feel for me for a topwater, it has a really soft tip.
And the reason that I like that is with braided line, there's no stretch. You have to have give somewhere. And that's where the rod is going to give that give.
When the rod bends. What that does is it lets me launch that topwater. Say they come up yards, I'm able to cast that Spook over there to them, but extremely light.
The split grip there, which gives you a little more feel. You can two hand it, you can one hand it. Great topwater rod.
