Cody Meyer, super cool guy and makes some really cool rods too. This is his 7'6" search bait rod. He made this rod after my own heart because I struggle immensely with a lot of fiberglass rods. This is a graphite rod but it's a winding rod whether it's a small swimbait or decent sized little swimbait paddle tails with jig head in them or crankbaits. Any type of search bait that you're fishing offshore covering a lot of water with and you need that moderate action to keep those fish pinned up and for the extreme casting distance as well. This rod right here is a medium-heavy or regular bend as Daiwa calls it that means moderate to the rest of us out there but that regular bend makes a lot of sense too it's just bending all the way down to the meat of the backbone here and evenly throughout the rod so it doesn't pull hooks away from fish but you get the pluses of having lighter weight material like graphite and action it's easier to move the rod around and feel what's going on with graphite than it is with glass. It is very spongy feeling with glass. Now as I say that there's a lot of people that are going to argue me that point because glass is what is preferred by most moving bait anglers. I just tend to enjoy fishing with a graphite rod quite a bit more for my search bait needs so thank you Cody Meyer for making a rod for guys like me if you're looking to cover some water and you don't want to use a glass rod for that application check out Cody Meyer's 7'6" medium-heavy regular bend search bait rod.
Boom extremely moderate action so kudos to the Daiwa engineers there you can't tell me that doesn't look very similar to a lot of the glass rods we've been bending typically what 's funny is you see how the glass rods pull down below the box I start to hook at but these graphite rods keep the tip up above that line but they bend very similarly on that arc so it almost seems like the glass rod gives in a little bit more actually bends down to the hooks that where this is staying in the same area the graphite doesn't kind of fold as far down I'm guessing so interesting findings here bending a moderate action graphite rod versus glass rod all I'm noticing a lot different is the glass rods tend to get pulled down beneath the box I'm even starting on so they're definitely giving mark just like a true glass fan says
