It was flat calm early, but once the wind picked up that’s when the jerkbait bite became evident and they stacked up near a submerged hump in 5-12’. Before that, I picked up a few scattered fish on slow moving bottom baits (drop shot and jig) in 12-14’

No topwater yet. Drop shot in 15-20 ft around submerge trees and mouth of coves. Roboworms in pumpkin punisher and morning dawn. 6-8lb mastiff fc leader worked well. Saw a few bass guarding fry but nothing on beds anymore.

Water still in the mid 80’s. Found the thermocline at 25 ft. Strike king 5xd found some fish in 15-18 ft range. Flatworms drop shot to 25 ft on a lews speed stick with 15 lb braid also got a few. Should get better with a few weeks of cooler nights.

Fishing has been tough on Roosevelt throughout the summer, but if you slow down and really take time to finesse and soak our baits you can still pick em up! Texas rig in the flooded brush and drop shot have been main sources of catches for me but you can pick up a few on top water if you can find that magic moment at sun up and and sunset.

I caught my fish on canyon walls and chunk boulders off of the main creek channel. I was fishing a heavier head than usual to get a faster fall on the ledges. I typically catch a mixed bag of largemouth and smallmouth, but this was a largemouth day. Steep walls and boulders that create shade lines was key.

Drop Shot was the key for today. Early in AM finding points and points that had hard rock and pebbles rock mix. Long Points on main lake in about 12-25ft largemouth we’re predominantly biting drop shot. Tried 10” worm off same points all day and 1 little bite. Drop Shot Bubble Gum and Morning Dawn colors for the job done today on Pleasant before it got hot.

I caught my best bass this trip on the free rig with a 6” desert craw Roboworm. We were fishing steep and rocky banks in and around submerged trees and bushes. I threw the free rig on a spinning rig with 12 pound braid to a 10 pound fluorocarbon leader. We also caught bass on Texas rigged Culprit worms and 3/0 round bend worm hooks and 1/4 - 3/8 ounce weights. The key was to fish shade lines with steep rocky banks and fishing close to submerged trees and bushes.

Main lake. Find high spots around 20-25ft. Dropshot roboworms in PP or green pumpkin. 1/4 or 3/8 ox weights. Bellows gill nose hooked caught a few as well. Nothing on top watt today. Get off lake by 10:30 because it is HOT!

We were fishing steep bluffs and casting against the bank. I was dragging my unpegged Texas rigged powerworm and letting it fall on semi-slack line until it hit bottom and them pulled it off and let it fall again. The bass were picking it up on the fall. It was late afternoon when the bite started to pick up. Typical summer patterns. The boat was sitting in 25-35 feet of water and the bites were coming in 10-15 feet.

Took Travis Hunter of the Colorado Buffalo's out for an afternoon adventure while he was in Az, and put him on a special dropshot bite at Saguaro, most guys are up river hoping to nab a giant with a wacky rig bite, but there is a nice lil Drop Shot bite producing more numbers and some serious slabs happening along shelves and cliff drops. Used KastKing Speed Demon Pro rods "shakey head" action (great dropshot rod with a backbone for those healthy tanks when they bite. Also used the new Assegai Rods from KastKing (new hotness) in the models "Sniper" and "Core Spinning" with Sharky III reels and MegaJaws Elite Spinning in the 2500 and 2000 series reels. Trimmed with either 13x Finesse Braid (best finesse braid on the market according to both Max Hernandez and Matt Shura) with a flouro leader. Other Set ups had the new KastKing Bill Dance TriPolymer line. lb tests ranged from 10-8lb. Dead Sticking was key with a very slow drag. No pops, hops, dings, or jumping the bait. The bass would barely peck at the bait if you were lucky, majority was just weight. Very lethargic bite but they still were chewing in the 110 degree heat. Golden Hour was the best bight while we were out.
