There were lots of shad bait balls around the pond, so I spent the better part of morning throwing the soft jerkbait around them. Several takers, just not a single bass over 3lbs. It was a fun Father's Day nonetheless!

Standing Timber
Fishing from shoreline, casting parallel to shore along dropoff as well as towards the dead trees in the water. Moderately fast retrieve speed to keep the fluke off the bottom. 2.5ft leader was sufficient to get very lifelike movement out of the fluke. 4/0 hook did the job perfectly.

It was a good outing ! I caught about a half dozen, not including several that I couldn’t get in the boat. All were bass with the exception of one decent size yellow perch! The bass were laid-up shallow! In addition to the Beatle Spin, I used a Jenko Shinobi Shad (snot rocket), Googan Squad mini zinger in sexy shad, and a Dynamic Lure micro spinner in a trout color!
