Last summer I fished 2 kayak bass fishing tournaments on lake George and the majority of my success came from 2 techniques. I will discuss 1 here and the other in a separate review. The month was August and it was very warm both air temperature and water temperature. The fish pushed out deep and catching them became a struggle. I found the smallmouth were sitting in 40 feet of water around the points of the various islands on lake George. So I tied a Texas rig with a heavy worm weight and put a 3 inch plastic crawfish on it and I would drop it straight down. It would hit the bottom and I would send out lots of extra line then put my rod in its holder and start peddling my kayak around and then as I was pretty much trolling I would get the bite. I ended up catching a lot of smallmouth between 19-21 inches this way.
