      Fished Zeb Pike for a few hours and caught a bunch of smallmouth with a few good ones mixed in. Fish were tight to lay downs on steeper shorelines as close to shore as you could cast.

      Fished the Zebulon river stretch and caught a bunch of bass on topwater baits. Both the whopper plopper and popper were working well. Caught over 30 bass in just a couple hours. The key was right tight to shore in areas with slightly deeper water and less current with boulders and weeds mixed in.

      Got out for only a couple hours, didn’t have a tone of luck on other techniques but got a couple nice smallmouth burning the crank back to the boat in about 10’ of water.

      Started the day out with a square bill casting over lay downs, but all I caught were pike. I then switched to a 3/8 oz green pumpkin jig with a strike king fire craw rage tail and had some luck. Fish the bank, and look for deeper lay downs. Cast up close to shore, and work the jig by hopping it off the bottom along the lay down.
