Fish were coming up river early with the unusually warm spring. With the low water the up run is fishing a lot like the down run, with a lot of walleyes utilizing the main river channel to migrate up river. You can anchor on either the first break off the main channel or the flat between the main river channel and bank, casting to both the flat and main channel, jigging the bait from a 45 degree cast to the side to behind the boat, and repeat. Guys are catching them drifting too, but anchoring has been good as well with the persistent wind we have had.

Anchor on the current seam and pitch jigs tipped with minnows to both the non current and current side. The walleyes are migrating up river and are utilizing both sides of the river with the low water conditions. Light 1/8 to 3/16 ounce jigs are key. I pitch/cast out 45 degrees down river and long line the light jig, bouncing it slowly, to straight behind the boat. Fish are coming both on the swing and directly behind the boat.

Water temps still hovering around 45 degrees. Last trip of the year. Water had risen about 2 feet from the recent heavy storms but was still very clean. Caught them on tubes, Berkley Fritz Side and Rapala DT 6 in the Demon color.

I cranked the riprap shoreline parallel to the channel bank. I also caught fish using a DT 6, but had better success with the Dime as it had rattles vs silent.
