Fishing for walleye is still good right now just as the sun is going down. Small window of opportunity for good walleye action. We fished from shore from boat launch areas soaking a fathead underneath a night led bobber. Plain hook or colored hooks with small split shot under a light bobber, around 2-3 feet under bobber. Cast bobber out and let sit for a few minutes. Give line a twitch every so often. Reel in any slack and kee line as tight as you can for when they bite, so you can set the hook on them. Might have to let them take the bobber for a few seconds before setting hook. They are very light biters, especially before and after their active moment during sun going down. Use the medium size fatheads, not the crappie minnows.

Early morning is the best bite. You can catch big fish throwing frogs and top water over the submerged vegetation. Slow twitches and long pauses caused the strikes. Hit the weed edges after with soft plastics Texas rigged worm 1/4 oz weight pegged.

I used the Lews Speedshooter 7’ rod and some small jigs with different tubes. Some were Strike King, but also uses some Northland tackle heads with Bobby garland bodies. Shooting them under docks. I was fishing mid day. 90 degrees out. So looking for what’s and cover. I got a few panfish. No crappies. Trolled back to the ramp with a chatter bait and deep diving hard bait with ZERO strikes. Oh well. I did pull enough 1 pounder bass and decent panfish for a dinner.

Running a Chappo over laydowns got my biggest bites but also caught numbers throwing a wacky rig senko near shady areas with Lilly pads.

Skipping docks with a queen tungsten jig. Varied between a jig with a chunk on shallower docks and one with a menace on a little bit deeper docks or flipping inside weedlines.
