Weather was very windy, cloudy and had random showers. Water temps were about 55 mid lake and climbed up to 58 at the upper part of the lake. The early morning bite was hot with larger bass being caught in the shallows on a black/chatterbait and squarebill crankbaits. Bite died off as the winds picked up and temps lowered. All bass were fat and it was obvious they’re getting ready for spawn.

We had two primary patterns today to get bites. When grass was present we would fish swim jigs on the tops of the grass just ticking the top of the grass and popping it loss to trigger reactions strikes for stubborn ass. When grass wasn’t present we would drag an Omega custom tackle swing head with a Googan kraken craw across the points. We would rely a lot of lovescope to target live and cast to them.

Stumbled upon a pattern late in the day fishing obvious rock piles around the lake. Nothing much to the pattern just dragging a jig and waiting till one thumps it.

Went out for some fun today on a beautiful day and to keep the shallow resident fish in the lake on their toes today. Bites came often but bigger bites came in clusters. You’d have to caught through a large number of small fish to find the right bite but when you did the 16+ inch fish tended to school up. Fished the bait pretty fast to generate a reaction strike. The water had a touch of a stain to it so dyed the tail of the bait with the spike it for a little bit of flair and to help match the forage in the lake.

We caught around 18lbs for our biggest 5 here prefishing for a tournament that we won. Both days we had one over 6 caught offshore. We were dragging scattered stumps with Tokyo Rigs and football jigs. You could also catch em on a dropshot but it was hard to get em out of the cover.
