I caught most of my fish with the Megabass Vision 110+1 over grass that is starting to come in. This is a clear lake typically 10-15’ of visibility. The can’t stand the table rock pattern. This lake Bluegill is the main forage. I also caught them on dimiki rig using the FF minnow on the Matt Stefan jig head. If I want to target them 15’ below the kayak I will cast 10’ out and let it pendulum back right above their heads. I was hoping to fish this way more but the wind was a constant 25mph and gusts in the 40s. It made this technique not worth it.

They absolutely smashed the Jerkbaits in the kayak today! I caught 36 Bass on Megabass Vision 110+1. The one in the picture wasn’t the largest but it engulfed it. You can see the bill sticking out of the gill. I tried a bunch of other stuff and this was what they wanted for sure I stumbled upon a pattern then used Livescope to dial it in. Grass was starting to come in and was about 1-2’ high. I was fishing in 8-12’ of water. I was working the jerkbait aggressively till it started to hit the tops of the grass. Then I would rip it up and jerk it back in to the top of the grass. I found a grass flat and started fan casting and then got three in three casts. I turned on Livescope and was watching the fish come in and out of the grass. I started out with the sexy shad pattern but this lake had 8-10’ of visibility today and doesn’t have shad. I saw a lot of followers so I switched out to Table Rock SP and just tore through them. I think the main forage is bluegill, crappie, and a few perch, I guess they see this as a tasty color.

Was throwing the BFE Texas Rigged in to a Beaver Dam and pulled this guy out! You want to move really slowly and get between every stick if possible.

Bass are getting stupid in pre-spawn! I caught a total of 44 all on jerkbaits. Most came on the 110 in Mat Shad. I also got some on the 110+1 in Table Rock SP. When it was really calm and sunny they follow the Table Rock but wouldn’t commit as often. When it was windy and overcast they preferred it. After a lot of followers on the Table Rock I put the Mat Shad on and got two on one cast! Interestingly they would hit the Mat Shad on the pause and wanted the Table Rock moving. Was fishing in 8-12’ that had grass about 2’ high. I was hitting the top of the grass and ripping it out.

Managed 3 over 18” and a bunch of smaller ones all on jerkbaits. I couldn’t get them to consider anything else except for one I got on a 2.8” Keitech. They were relating heavily to the grass already. I tried to keep the bait as close as possible to the top of the grass and it did the trick.

They stocked trout this year and I have been getting them on drop shots while bass fishing. About half have come from deeper water and half from out of shallow structure. This came out of an overhang in about a foot of water.

I caught most of my fish on spybaits this trip. The fish were still setup the way they were when I caught them on jerkbaits but the were reluctant to hit them. I did catch one nice one on a jerkbait still. I would throw the spybait out as far as I could and count it at a fall rate of 1’ a second and when it would be at the top of the grass line I would reel in slowly. The largest fish of the day came on this rig. It is a slow way to fish but it catches them when other things wont work.

Had a great day today and caught everything on Jerkbaits. The largest came on the Table Rock SP and was 20.25” and 4.6lbs. I also used the gill color and caught some nice ones. They completely switched up how the want the bait presented. They wanted it fast and furious last week today you had to work it like it was the middle of Winter and they would smash it on the pause. I was fishing the jerkbait so slow and the “jerks” were more like taps. I was just moving the bait enough to show the color of side and reeling it slowly. Most fish would hit it on the pause. The fish are either suspended over the submerged grass or down in it. Just adjust the jerkbait to keep it right above the grass and work it slow.
