Bass were active early morning around the big boulders/rocks of the coves nearer the dam. The storm wiggle wart and the zman jack hammer out did the jig bite. Mostly in the 4-10’ range. Very windy conditions but it was bright and sunny. The day started out a little chilly but warmed to mid 60’s.

Bite started out slow early on but as the sun warmed up the water temp it picked up. They were holding tight on brush piles at 16-20’ ow. Very windy and hard to hold on the points but dragging tandem goldenheaded hand ties was the ticket.

Sunday April 3rd we fished the Oklahoma TBF state qualifier on lake Tenkiller. We fished windblown banks with Storm wiggle warts in red craw and firetiger, Spro rockcrawler 55 red craw, and Rapala DT10 custom painted. We caught a ton of largemouth and smallmouth. We took First place, big bass, and the side pot

Blade worked well by verticle jigging it over rock piles in 20-30 foot of water. The swim bait worked by running it right below bait balls where fish were feeding. Water was very clear.

Find the bait! Find the largemouth! This place has a healthy population of fish, seemed like you can go just about anywhere and catch some nice spotted bass. That day, the largemouth and smallmouth were feeding together. Pushing balls of shad around in 20 feet of water. The 2.8 matched the shad perfectly that time of year!

- Locate schools of shad in cuts/pockets off the main channel, Marinas, or backs of coves. Use the crankbait to go through or under the school to get a bite. another method is to run the crankbait bouncing off the bottom. The best method here was to throw the Freeloader on a hover rig and go through the bait balls or swim it underneath the baitballs -Dropshotting: Locate docks or brush piles and run the dropshot along the brush or dock pilings. - Football jig: find rocky main lake points or islands and slow drag and hop the jig.
