Put a few tosses off the ledge near the boat launch this morning. Wind was slightly prohibitive and I broke off at the knot on my first bite but I caught this one shortly after. Not a bad 45 minutes with a wacky rig.

Played with some new baits from the bank after some rain. 3 in 90min from the same spot. Biggest was on the Yamatanuki. The Neko Macho falls a little faster than a Senko, but they work!

Slow fall of the Fat Ika’s rigged weightless and backwards (tails towards the line) drew them in. A handful of catches over a couple hours from 3 spots on the bank.

Being a manmade lake there isn’t much structure. Just a ledge off the bank. Find baitfish, and you find bass. I was sailing ribbontail worms. The Gambler lures 10” worm isn’t listed but I bought them here and they SLAYED on a 5/0 with 3/16oz weight.

Sunrise Lake in Blaine, MN is a great destination for kayak anglers. Only electric motors are allowed on the lake, so no wake boats or jet skis interupt your fishing. I was in search of Largemouth Bass and this lake has plenty of them. I found schools of bass in open water, but the best action came from skipping a whacky worm under docks. My biggest largemouth this day was 18.25”. The big bass are under the docks and strike fast and hard…IT’S A THRILL! Be ready, hold on tight and be prepared to reverse away from the dock!
