As of April 10th, the current water temp is hovering around 54 degrees. The afternoon bite (4pm-6pm) was fast and furious, a Rayburn Red Cordell Super Spot, 3” was the key to a two hour, 5 bag limit. Bass are staging and stacked up on drop offs getting ready to move up to the shallows to spawn. Slow roll a trap or jig up the drop off towards your boat. Tip: Keep your bait in the water as long as possible; fish will follow your bait to the boat and strike at the last second. If a fish misses, erratically move your bait and they’ll hit again.

As I made a mistake in my last report on the water temp I made sure it was correct this time. Had a blast in the back end of mannings cove, in shallow water, with the frogs. Found some fish spawning, along with males on beds, and a bed being ravished by a bullhead and sunfish. Fished that for 3 hours in the early morning hours, then went out to some rock piles and deep weedlines.
