Awesome day on the river, it's easy to call your shots once the water heats up mid-day. Fishing flatsides around laydowns and rock walls was the ticket to some 4 and even 5 pound fish!!

Targetting pre-spawn largemouth around flooded stumps, laydowns, and rootballs that were close to deep and adjacent to spawning bays were key. Keeping an eye on your water temperature helped you gauge what areas were likely to have feeding bass, as the 50-degree watermark was important.

Smallies were staged in areas with large amount of shad. Mostly found them in the shallows near steep ledges. A white jackhammer worked well for getting them to bite. Was also able to get them on the ledges with a shad colored jerk bait. Found a few decent largies in the shallows feeding also.
