Jigging a Pinhead pro in 6 feet of water and dead sticks made for a great bite in the Winona backwaters this past weekend. The bite seemed to die down midday with most of our bites coming in right at sunrise.

Fall on the Mississippi River the bite has been awesome. With low water conditions it's tough to get around to places but with not a lot of current it's easy to maneuver on your trolling motor. Looking for current breaks on wing dams, backs of sand flats, and any eddy. My number one bait by far was a Topwater walking bait, especially for finding fish. Sometimes you needed to slow down with a fluke or a swimbait, but almost all would eat a topwater.

Sand drops, sand points, wing dams, closing dams, fund right mix of bait and current, cover tons of water with liplesss, once you get bit, pick it apart with a jerkbait for smallies and largies

Caught lots of small mouth in 2-3 foot of water fishing sand flats with submerged logs, (current breaks). Caught most of them on a Zman Finesse EYEZ with a 3.3 inch paddle tail swim-bait in a shad color

Caught nice largemouth all above 14” limit throwing along the edge of weed lines in stagnant back waters, water temp was 65 and clear, 10 ft of water at a somewhat fast retrieval speed.

Caught a decent amount of smallies on wing dams with the BFL rig and then caught a bunch of fish on topwater in an area with a bunch of shad grouped up just not a crazy amount of size.
