Walleyes are slowly starting to come shallow to feed for the prespawn. Slow roll 1/4 ounce to 3/8 ounce soft body paddle tail swim baits like mimic minnow were working. Best bite was during the evening. Water temps are still ice cold so the best bite will probably be in the next two to three weeks.

We pitched Ned Rigs up into the rocks on the river and caught good numbers of smallies. Nothing over 18", but lots of fish.

Cranking rip rap and rock points with shallow Balsa cranks in bright colors produced smallmouth, white bass, drum and catfish. Also flipping wood along these stretches provided extra smallmouth
