The warm weather had smallies moving shallow. We caught them on jerkbaits in 2-8 fow on flats with boulders and scattered rock. Megabass Vision 110s in French Pearl and GG Kincuro were the ticket when the wind blew. When it was calm, an Outkast Perfect Ned with a Z-man TRD Tickler mopped em up. My son caught his PB smallie (5.4 lbs!) On the Ned.

We were new to the lake, so we played around with ledges and breaklines. If we were in 18-20 feet of water but could see weeds, rocks and dropoffs, we found fish. The Rapala OG Slim 6 was the hot bait. Wish I had 5 more in the box! We slayed fish...Largemouth, Smallmouth< Northern Pike and Walleye... can't get backsoon enough!

6/18 - 6/19 - Action around the flats with live bait rigs. Best luck was with leech and 12' lead and chartreuse hook. A few came with crawlers. Over the two days we had a half dozen over 22 with two at 27" with another 4 eater size. A few small mouth mixed in with 18" being the largest.

Went up north for the long weekend. Pokegama was on fire for smallies. Fishing the same stuff from July 1-4. 2-8 feet of water fishing rocks, boulders, and weeds near rock lines. Most fish came on a drop shot with a super short leader (4-5 inches). Berkeley max scent flat worm in straight green pumpkin was the juice. They were eating the 3.6 and 4.25 inch (didn't matter the size). Working it slow through the rocks or weeds and just shaking the slack was the key to the biggest bites.

Points
Drop shots fished slowly on points produced some quality post spawn smallmouth. The water is extremely clear and stealthiness is key. It also seemed to help to let the areas rest and come back after an hour or so.
