The warm weather had smallies moving shallow. We caught them on jerkbaits in 2-8 fow on flats with boulders and scattered rock. Megabass Vision 110s in French Pearl and GG Kincuro were the ticket when the wind blew. When it was calm, an Outkast Perfect Ned with a Z-man TRD Tickler mopped em up. My son caught his PB smallie (5.4 lbs!) On the Ned.

We were new to the lake, so we played around with ledges and breaklines. If we were in 18-20 feet of water but could see weeds, rocks and dropoffs, we found fish. The Rapala OG Slim 6 was the hot bait. Wish I had 5 more in the box! We slayed fish...Largemouth, Smallmouth< Northern Pike and Walleye... can't get backsoon enough!

Chasing Main lake and river largemouth with a Frog around Lilipads, pencil reeds, and other types of emergent vegetation during the summer months can produce quality largemouth. Look for the densest vegetation with holes and pockets for the most success. And you definitely may have to go in after them!
