4” of ice, 10’ of water out from the public access. Saw two sunfish catching one on a minnow. Also spied a pike or two on the Aqua-Vu. First trip out on ice. The products I recommended are either things I use for ice fishing or very similar. Good luck this ice season.

I am the Bass Pundit and would prefer this report to be about bass, but Platte Lake had a very severe winter kill this year. Not sure if any resident fish survived this time. I know I am catching very few bass and lots of pike, primarily small, in an area that has been dominated by bass for years. If you are after bass I suggest sticking to Sullivan or putting on a wire leader because these pike are hungry.

Bass are slowly coming out of the post spawn funk, which means it’s time to frog the rice, reeds, and slop in Platte Lake. Cover water and slow down when you hear or see activity.

Water temp was 48 and I was fishing the inside weedline with the KVD 2.5. I got four bass in a ten minute stretch of a two hour trip. Other than that I caught a few small pike and lost a bass on a popper as it was getting dark. It’s November in Central MN, no complaints.

Fished with my brother tonight. Things were slow until the sunset and then my brother put on a clinic getting two 4lber and a 3lber with multiple other Platte Lake Specials. I wasn’t to be out done catching the nights big bass (4.67lbs) on my last cast of the night. We caught14 bass and 2 pike with the six biggest bass going 21.56lbs. I got one of my bass on a Toadz. A couple more on the Terminator Jig. All the rest of the fish were on Chatterbaits. Once again fishing 2-4’ in scattered cabbage along the inside weedline of a northern shoreline. Water temperature was 48 degrees tonight

Took a buddy out to the same stretch of northern shoreline with cabbage on it. Fished for a couple of hours until dark. 2-4’ of water wind blowing in and the bass were biting. We caught 21 bass and 4 pike. Four of the bass were over 3lbs and only two were under 2lbs. Basically it was Platte Lake Special night on Chatterbaits. Best 6 between the two of us weighed 19lbs.

Fishing on Platte Lake for bass this year has been slow, but the size of the fish somewhat makes up for it. This morning I got three bass. A 3lber that hit the Ozark Rig. And 2.5 and 4.80 that hit the Terminator Jig with Z-Man Hella CrawZ trailer. All fish were caught in the reeds on the Southern end of the lake in three to five feet of water.

Went out for two and half hours last night and fished until dark. I fished the inside weedline of a large weed flat along the north shoreline. I had a bunch of bites that didn’t hook up. I assume most of them were pike, but I had so many that some had to be bass. I landed 7 bass for the evening with 2.75lb bass coming on the Terminator Jig. The rest were on a Chatterbait. Two of those were over 4lbs and the final fish of the night was 3.84lbs. Best 6 went 19.59lbs.
