May 6–Back in the spring I caught another bonus walleye on a spinnerbait! It was right up under a small dock in about a foot and a half of water. I caught it while flipping spinnerbaits at the retaining walls in a bass tournament.

These Fox Chain largemouth wanted a SLOW rolled spinnerbait right before the spawn. Weather was odd with on and off rain and the occasional thunderstorm. The Bass were pretty scattered with the overcast conditions and could be found in lay downs, off riprap, and near grass. I was using a Booyah but any White, Double Willow spinnerbait would have worked well to imitate Shad.

Docks
During early spring tournaments I targeted docks and pilings for largemouth. They primarily held on the sunny pieces of cover where they could absorb some warmth. I was pitching around a Rage Menace, Texas Rigged on a 3/0 EWG, with a lighter 1/4 oz bullet weight.

Submerged Vegetation
Pistakee and the chain can be difficult fishing during the summer months. they water is stained, warm, and can be really high or really low. I have always had the best of luck with chatterbaits or any bait that makes some vibration or noise. Chartreuse in color is always my go to pick in stained water. i think the combo really gives the bass something to attack or get moving.
