Fished the first week of September. Found largemouth and some smallmouth around rock and boulders near weeds. Caught very few in just weeds, best areas were rock structures with weeds close by or where both were mixed, especially hard edges of weed and rock transitions. 6th sense lipless and swimbait and Outkast swim jig produced the most bites, and a Texas rigged baby brush hog produced when you needed to slow down.

Fished September 2nd-8th. Caught some fish on rock and some in weeds, but a mix of both produced the most fish. Either finding isolated boulders in weeds or the edge of large rock structure as it transitions to weeds was most productive. Caught mostly smallmouth and largemouth, with northern pike, crappies, bluegills, and a few walleyes mixed in. Caught fish on a variety of baits, but a 6th sense divine swimbait on a 3/16th oz Owner Ultrahead, a Biospawn plasma tail on an 1/8 oz Ultrahead, and a Texas rigged Strike king Coffee tube were the top baits of the week.

Was fishing Pelican lake the week of Aug. 22nd - Sept 2nd. We were able to catch some fish on moving baits but most came on slower presentations. Most fish came on big boulders around weeds or if we found big rock outcroppings sticking off points or islands that extended out into weeds. The key seemed to find any large rock structure surrounded by weeds and most were in 2-8 feet of water. We were able to catch some fish on a Terminator walking frog or an Outcast tackle heavy cover swim jig with Berkley chigger bug as a trailer. But we caught most of our fish with finesse presentations. A neko rigged Zoom trick worm or a small 3" craw on a 1/8oz jig head produced the most fish.

Look for rocks in 2 to 8 feet with grass around them. Best bass lake I ever fished

Cranking a DT6 in mildly weeded areas near boulders. Rip crankbait through the grass or in openings pausing between rips. Also some medium sized LM were inside of the weedline or in shallow laydowns. Bluegill Swim jig was the bait of choice.

First time to Pelican, very interesting lake. Fished the west side mainly for 2 days. Very shallow, flat lake with so much grass. Ended up keying in on an awesome frog bite. Fish were not tucked on the shoreline, but rather around emergent grass or floating mats in the middle of the bays. Great size quality of fish as well. Didn’t have time to really chase the smallmouth around, but there are so many rock/sand/grass transitions that I found on my mega360 that would definitely be spot to look at.
