I used a blue crappie plastic similar to what is recommended here. The crappie were shallow -- 3'. I casted and slowly reeled it in.

Head to the South side of the lake through a narrow channel. Start by tossing your favorite weedless topwater bait above the lilipads with in the channel on the East side. As you enter the South bay, keep wrapping the corner on the East. Lots of lilys. Toss your finesse jig with a twister tail under and around over hanging trees as the day warms up. 4-5 pound bass with in this area. TAKE YOUR TIME! Many bass fisherman on this lake will troll the bank casting along but never stop to focus on the area. Catch the bass they leave behind all day long.

Water temps only increased a few degrees from 2 weeks prior and bass were moving in but not on beds yet. Most bass were caught on moving baits like spinners, swimbaits and chatterbaits and some were caught on a wacky worm. We looked for the warmest area of the lake that was accessible and slowed down once we located fish

We got out for the MN fishing opener and it was rainy and windy! We looked for cover/rocks in shallow areas on the north side of the lake where the water was 67 degrees. It looked males were guarding beds and females were off. Most fish were small that we caught close to cover but the few better ones were caught tight to cover under laydowns.throwing a green pumpkin bang stickz with a 3/8oz tungsten got bigger bites. Ned rigs and a swim jig also got bites

The water varied between 66-70F. Most of the bass were in 1-5' water. Even with all the rain we received recently the lake is still very low. O'Dowd has a good ramp that was re-paved several years ago. There's only a handful of trailer spots, however; you can also park at Thole just down the road as that lake is rarely busy.

Ledges
Largemouth bass could be found early on secondary point weed edges. Most efficient technique was using a lipless crankbait (6th Sense quake 70 in natural colors for me specifically). As the sun got higher, fish moved into shallow areas with rocks, sand, gravel, etc.
