It's a small limit but a limit no less. Found a shad spawn happening right on the dam wall. Largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass were all feeding. It was hard to catch the bass because there was so much bait. Once I matched the hatch, I caught some bass on a white pop-r and a small BX-Brat.

It was a cold cloudy day this afternoon with a little breeze coming from the east. I started fishing bluff walls and this pattern didn’t work so I started working my way into small pockets off the river channel. Eventually got on a red crankbait bite in the 5 ft range. The lure that got it done was a Rapala Rocco and Spro rk crawler. Gear wise, I was using a Duckett rod paired with a Shimano DC reel with 10 lb co-polymer line.

Laydowns
* This report is for bass but it wasn’t available in the “species” drop down list: For smallmouth, spotted and largemouth bass, use a 3.5” TRD worm (watermelon or green pumpkin) on a Ned rig. Look in the shallows for beds. Sometimes there is enough water clarity to sight-fish the beds.

Look for cypress trees during each of the spawn stages. These trees are great spawning habitats. Target the shallow, slow-moving water and fully cover the area if you aren’t able to see the beds. Don’t hesitate to cast into VERY shallow areas!
