Just wrapped up a top 10 finish for the All-American Kayak Series on the IGL's. The fish are just sliding up for the spawn. Caught all my big fish burning a lipless crankbait and a chatterbait in 2-4 FOW through isolated grass clumps. Using a ripping motion throughout the retrieve was key to elicit strong reaction bites. The bite is hot/heavy early morning with fish schooling on points near the spawning flats. There were also multiple fish I saw floating that had died from eating 5-6" bluegills.

Fishing under docks with Jig and Wacky rig and then down the front and sides with a crankbait. Fishing was really slow but found more bites doing that than anything else.

Won a little youth derby out on Okoboji this weekend. Fish were pretty keyed in on bluegill so it was a little tricky getting them to bite. Caught some nice ones on the squarebill running it outside the docks. Really focused on the individual docks rather than the giant marinas. Had like 15 fish over 3 and a half pounds this weekend.

For some reason the lake was being very stingy to me on a hot early fall day. Decided to skip a wacky rig around some docks in Minney and plunked off a couple good bites including a 5 1/2. Wacky rig is a good way to get some bites and not just small ones too.
