May 22nd 2022 I fished the second day of the Pro Series and the second trail event for Kayak Bass Fishing's tournament weekend. I was able to catch a few on a megabass jerk bait shallow in the morning. Though once the sun came up I started bed fishing with a Darter throwing it with a 1/4 ounce tungsten weight. May 21st 2022 I fished the Elite Kayak Fishing and KBF tournament. I did not realize they were full on spawn at this time. I was fishing humps with a small white spark shad on a small jighead slow rolling it across the humps. After a little while the bite died down so I picked up a megabass jerk bait and they ate it up. I caught multiple 3 pound smallmouth and had 90" by 9am. You can see the full video on my youtube channel Jake_Stem_Fishing

May 20th I headed out on the lake for a practice day for the upcoming tournament for KBF and EKF the following 2 days. This was my first time on this body of water and heard there could be some spawning smallmouth. Between the clouds, wind, and forgetting my sunglasses it was very hard to see any beds deeper than 3 foot. I still covered 14 miles of water searching for beds mostly but also trying some deeper areas. Only finding 2 locked bed fish and one random fish it was a tough day. But the ones I did catch were on the STIX rods number 1 finesse stix. Using a Rabid Baits darter paired with a drop zone tackle rattling drop shot weight. It worked great! You can watch my entire day on youtube at Jake_Stem_Fishing.

Overcast for most of the day and in the low 60s. Right in the heart of the smallmouth spawn. Most of the fish caught were fan casting a ned rig or a jig in areas where beds would likely be even if they couldn’t been seen. The smallmouth are so aggressive it doesn’t really matter. This is by far one of my favorite smallmouth lakes to fish.
