Lost Grove lake is fishing tough right now depending on the species you are targeting. Largemouth bass are probably the toughest to get to bite in these late summer conditions but there is a way to trick some into eating. For bass I have been flipping a 1/2 oz black and blue strike king hack attack flipping jig paired with a sapphire blue strike king rage craw as far into the flooded timber and bushes in about 8-12 ft of water. The majority of the bites in the shallower end of that range are coming at the bottom of the fall while in the deeper end of that range they are coming mid way down on the fall. I have found this is one of the only ways to target big fish in the lake. You’ll want to free spool the bait on the way down. This should yield better bites 2-5lb bass live in there. The hardest part is staying consistent with the technique and not giving up.

The Megabass Ito vision 110+2 is a deeper diving Jerkbait that is extremely effective in early spring when the bass are still hanging out deeper. This technique is productive because you can control the speed of the bait and the cadence without having contact with the bottom. When the water is sub 40 degrees the bass are very lethargic and a deep diving suspending Jerkbait is an excellent way to pick off a few fish. I suggest playing with your pauses between jerks to find out what the fish want. Typically when it is very cold water the fish want a longer pause between jerks and when the the water warms up in late spring the fish will want a faster cadence.

Bite was tough. Water temps have dropped upwards of 10 degrees in a couple days. The high winds kept things interesting. Fished a tournament where 11# won today.
