Insane early spring bite. This water hasn’t heated up enough for the largies to be moving around, but the smallmouth are going crazy right now. Just use your sidescan to look for structure in 10’-20’ of water. Toss out a blade bait and let it hit the bottom. Just yo-yo it off the bottom back to you, and you’ll catch some really nice fish. This new Mastiff line is great too. It casts well, and is very abrasion resistant!

Look for smallmouth beds in 1’-5’ of water in sandy or rocky areas with slow moving water. Pitch a Texas rigged Big Bite Baits Swimming Mama on to the bed with a 3/8 oz bullet weight. Allow it to sink and sit on the bed. Give it a couple twitches, and allow it to sit again. Continues this for 30 seconds or so, and recast if you don’t get a fish. You should be able to catch a lot this time of year off of beds.

Lake was surprisingly very clear with the recent rain. Fish were on beds but if they saw you... game over. Stealth was the name of the game today.

Fish are in full Spawn. This large mouth was under a log on a bed. Very aggressive strike. Caught other small mouth on open beds where their bite was much more subtle and they were a lot more skitterish.

Went down lake to get better visibility. Fishing was fantastic today. You could catch dinks every cast. The big ones were on their beds and VERY finicky. You had to drop it on their heads and from a far enough distance they could not see you. Challenging but very rewarding! Long is your lake this weekend! 😎👍

Fantastic fishing today. Water visibility was around 3-5 ft. Fish were Not as skitterish and very active. This big girl here broke my PB at 5.15 lbs. Glorious beast who looked like she had been to war. Long Lake is on fire right now!

The recent rain and subsequent run-off has lowered the temperature of the water. Visibility however was fair, 6-7 ft, The Big bass were in ambush mode and most of the strikes I got were very aggressive. They were staging under overhangs in around 3'-4' next to a weed line or drop off. In General smaller bass were actively feeding and the fishing was fantastic. Long Lake is happening right now!

Water has cleared up quite a bit in the last few days. Visibility is 8-10 ft in areas where there are no spawning carp. ie -Lilly pads and shallow vegetation. Fish are very wary and skittish. Long casts and stealth was the key to success today. Caught some nice fish. Found some still on beds. Fishing has slowed down. Beautiful Northwest Day!
