Cooler than normal weather and water conditions had the largemouth bass tucked into heavier clumps of submerged vegetation in about 4-8 ft of water. Short pitches of wacky and neko rigged plastics around the clumps and weed lines yielded nice largemouth. Simple technique for kids and beginners to build some confidence and have fun fishing. Light line, sensitive rod and smooth drag are key to the presentation in clear water.

Larger bass were hunkered down around submerged vegetation adjacent to spawning flats in 6-8 feet of water. Slow presentations like an unweighted Flush were the key to getting a few quality bites. Using quality Bajio shades to seek out areas with the thickest vegetation was worth the time investment. Sunline Overwatch is amazing for long casts with spinning reels and that was important with the high, sunny skies in shallow water.

Decided to try this lake after driving past the Boat Launch sign. Found a lake with several pockets of lilypads so fished in and around the edges using weedless/weightless Zoom Magnum UV Speedcraws and Zoom Magnum UV Speed Worms on a 4/0 wide creature hook. Casting with medium heavy spinning gear and 20 lb braided line, I was casting into the weeds, dragging back out across the top to edge and letting it settle. Most pickups were on the fall or on surface at edge of weeds.
