Worked Ripstop around remnant patches of sand grass and pond weed stalks varying length of pauses following 2 or 3 jerks. Managed to connect with this largemouth and a couple small pickerel just before a big spring warm up hit.

Several days after ice out bass started to move in and out of the shallows sometimes holding in remnant submerged weed patches (pond weed and sand grass). After trying horizontal retrieves at various speeds and pauses, started to use a yo-yo retrieve with chatterbait & scent-enhanced craw trailer. Hits and hook-ups occurred when bait was in free-fall and came into contact with weeds. Retrieve drew several hits but only two hook-ups, a 13" & 16.5" bass before another heavy strike frayed line and broke off (I assume a pickerel). Not a bad, quick bank stop while out running errands.

First stop of the night it was me vs a loon and the loon won keeping the fish at bay :) Second stop I was fishing a windblown bank with a chatterbait and spinnerbait, 7 hits, 6 connections (5 chatter, 1 sb) all in ~ 35 minutes around sunset. Bass were holding around remnant submerged brass patches in 2 to 4 feet of water. Nothing huge but still lots of fun

I love the feeling when your spinnerbait hits a patch of pondweed, you pop it free with a twitch of the rod, feel a couple of blade turns and then everything comes to a complete stop! Next comes the head shake, surface boil and finally landing a nice 21.5" spawned out big gal. Only caught one other 14" bass this evening but sometimes it all about quality over quantity :)

Braved the Bike Week chaos for a short sunset bank trip this evening. Though I played tug-o-war with several fish hanging around weed patches, I managed to connect with and land 4 largies; two ~ 1.5 lbs, one ~ 2.75 lbs and a just spawned out 20.5" ~ 4+ lbs. All 4 munched a weightless t-rigged soft stickbait. Between the buzz of the bugs n bikes, I decided to make it an early night to avoid any mayhem 😁

Another sunset bank trip tonight. A wacky-rigged soft stick enticed a little guy at stop #1. Things definitely got better at stop #2. A 3/8 oz green pumpkin chatterbait with a twin tail trailer worked using a pulsed, medium speed retrieve connected with 5 bass right at sunset followed by another 6 on a 1/2 oz black/chartreuse spinnerbait worked with a straight, medium speed retrieve. Targeted patches of remnant submerged vegetation with both baits. Nothing huge but lots of fun.
