I fished Lake Toho, as well as Lake Cypress and Kissimmee from 02/19/23 to 02/22/23 for the Major League Fishing Collegiate National Championship. We spent most of our time on Toho, where we were able to find a pretty consistent bite flipping a senko into lily pads mixed in with reeds and kissimmee grass. We were also able to utilize a jerkbait and livescope on a few brush piles to catch some smaller fish too. In cypress, chatterbaits around the edges of lily pad fields produced bites for us, and the same pattern seemed to work for us in Kissimmee as well. Overall, it was a pretty tough week for us, but we did have a decent bag on day 1 of the tournament that went 12 pounds 8 ounces (pictured with the report) that had us in 60th place out of 198 teams after day 1. Unfortunately, the fog delay for 3 hours coupled with being one of the last boats to go out on day 2 and trolling motor issues completely ruined our day 2, so we ended up falling quite a bit. Not the finish you want in the national championship, but we were happy to be there and be a part of it. The fish seemed to be in all 3 stages of the spawn across the chain, and we even caught 3 bass off of beds sight fishing. The water temperature ranged anywhere from 65 to 75 degrees across the chain throughout the week, and the water clarity was tanic but clear as you could see down about 1.5 to 2.5 feet everywhere we went. The weather was warm all week and stable, so the fishing was pretty consistent. I hope this report helps you out on your next trip, good luck and tight lines!
