A quick 45 minute trip to Lake Rooty resulted in 3 LMB weighing 2.6#, 2.0# and 1.8#. All three fish were caught on a wacky rig, we did try throwing a chatterbait for awhile with no luck.

We did some bed fishing this weekend and it appears as though we are in Post-Spawn. The bucks are now guarding the beds and females have moved out. We were most successful this weekend with the following techniques: Wacky Rig and Texas Rig

Bass are starting to move up shallow, some are already on beds. We had a our best success recently with a chatterbait and swimbait trailer and a Texas rigged creature bait. The chatterbait technique is chuck and wind while we were bouncing the Texas Rig along the bottom, with the strike occurring on the fall.

Had the opportunity to a couple of days recently and had success with a number of lures and techniques. Early morning saw the best success with the Berkley Bullet Pop and as the day progressed tried other techniques: spinnerbait and wacky rig with more numbers caught on wacky rig. Right now the spawn is in transition with some females starting to bed, males on beds guarding eggs and other males guarding fry.

Caught four this morning cranking in about 2.5 hours. After some rain, we've had a couple of warmer sunny days in a row, the water is more stained than usual, so slowed the retrieve down. Each fish bit when the retrieve was paused.

I've been having good success the last couple of weeks throwing the Rapala BX Brat 03 in Tamale, Homer's Buddy and Hit Dang colors. There isn't a lot of structure in the local ponds I fish, the technic I've been using is: crank down to depth and pause for a second, crank 3-5 times and pause, hold the rod tip low and pointed directly at the bait. All of the bites have occurred on the pause. I'm using a 7' Falcon Rods MH Lowrider, Abu Garcia Revo SX 7.3:1 and Sufix 40# 832 braid. The lure is tied directly to the braid, no leader. This causes the bait to run shallower than 3' and not dredge the bottom.

After the recent heavy rain the water clarity was less then 2'. Over the past week we've thrown a lot of different lures, the only lure we had success with after the rain has been a double willow spinner bait with a boot tail trailer.
