Fishing was tough, rained all weekend which cooled the water down. The last two days were above 85 degrees. This screwed the fish up big time. Flipping a jig in reeds got bites. But the bites were few and far between. Any pockets way back in the reeds, or anywhere where there was cane held fish.

Rip Rap
Cranking sections of the bank that had sparce rock/gravel and rip rap was catching nice size smallmouth and largemouth bass. The luckycraft 1.5 in BE gill on the megabass Javelin did well. Fish were very shallow, less than 4' of water. Nice fish could be caught under docks in deeper areas as well. Skipping a jig caught some larger fish.

Fish were heavy on docks tonight as well. With the dirtier water, pitching to each corner of the dock and making multiple skips up under the platforms and lifts and dragging the jig out very slowly with the fish sometimes hitting it halfway back to the boat. Over 20 pounds for my best 5 fish. Fish were also in the reeds. the deeper outside edge seemed to hold more fish than the inside edge.

Had some decent luck flipping a Bandito Bug around the edges of the reeds away from shore. The bite was slow but the quality was pretty good.

Use your side scan or polarized sunglasses to locate the beds on the shoreline. Cast over the beds and very your retrieve and hold on the chatter bait drives them crazy. Tie a 5 ft piece of mono to your braid mainline and check every once in a while for nicks in your line. Good Luck and Have Fun!

There was no wind on the Saturday of the fishing opener. The walleyes weren't cooperating, so we went shallow. The rushes were not up yet, but we fished the areas where the rushes were growing and did very well!
