The bite was slow in the AM but turned on late in the day. We were finding bass here and there near timber and reeds.

Look for spawning bass around docks. The beds will be close to a piling or to some sort of hard structure. Once you find some beds, pitch your bait quietly past the bed and work it into the bed. Watch how the bass reacts. Try different weights or even weightless until you get them to bite. If you don't have any luck doing that just make long cast with a texas rigged stick bait or creature bait and fish it back to the boat. Important thing is to make sure you have hard bottom. Good luck and hope you whackem.

During my tournament on August 28, 2022 for a 3 fish limit I caught 12 pounds anchored by 7.99 pound Lonker see photo below. Caught on a ZMan chatterbait white with with a silver and goldish brown trailer in about six feet of water in submerged vegetation at 1:32 in the afternoon. My tackle was Abu Garcia Revo X reel and Veritas rod. My line was 14lb Berkeley Monofilament.

Had some luck blind fishing beds flipping docks. Had to let it soak a little before moving it and fish it very slow. The water clarity wasn't great but when you did find it you could catch them fan casting that worm and slowly working it through the grass.

They are schooled up or running in pairs. Pairs make them a little harder to catch, but if you see them pushing bait they will eat good.

Had a good morning of fishing despite the extreme heat. Was able to catch a few nice bass early in the morning on the popper as bass were busting shad on the surface. Once that bite died off, went looking for deep pockets in the eel grass to locate fish holding on the edges. Used the Mustad Apex drop shot hook with a 6” Morning Dawn and 1/16 weight to catch a few more decent fish.
