A few hours on Mooney lake today, the bass were in the brush in 3-5feet of water. Hit on the Stunna Jerkbait largest bass right at 5lbs. The bass are really fat and healthy in prespawn shape. Fished the jerk bait rip and pause would hit right after the pause.

Picked up some pre-spawn on the afternoon bite at Mooney Reservoir. Bass were in the back of coves looking for areas to spawn. Biggest was around 3lbs and they were hitting the spinnerbait very aggressively. Bass were not spawning but cruising the shallows looking for areas.

Caught many bass on a Jerk Bait, primarily the Stunna 112 in Stunna Shad color but also the Strike King KVD 300. The bass were suspended around bait fish. The key was to find the bait fish and fish the Jerk bait around the bait fish to pick up the bass. Had one bass over 5lbs most were in the two to three pound range.

Fish were moving up on the beds to spawn today. They are spawning in 5-7 feet of water very few are shallower. The water is ultra clear you can see the fish on beds easily in 7 feet of water or pick out the beds from a good distance. We were whacky rigging Jackal Flick Shake and letting it drop down around the beds and they hammered it. Usually one small pump of the rod would generate a reaction strike from the bass. Caught over 40 bass between 2 and 5 pounds.

Great on the lake! Put over 20 bass in the 2-4lb range in 3 hours. The bass are on the beds in 4-6feet of water. Concentrate on the lake flats not steep banks. Flipped the Jackall worm wacky style on the beds letting it fall in the bed and as it hits the bottom I give it a small action jerk, and the bass were slamming it.

The lake is heating up, and the bass have moved up to start the spawn. As usual they were not hitting moving baits they would only hit a whacky style plastic. The zoom trick worm was the key, fishing it in 4 to 5 foot of water in the coves.

Fish have moved into post spawn conditions. I caught all my bass in 7-10 foot of water on standing brush/stumps/timber on mostly secondary points. The Keitech Easy Shiner was the bait that did it for me, slow presentation. I caught about 10 bass in 2.5 hours with this presentation.
