Monana Bay this year has been decent. A lot of bluegills being caught. If you are marking and you not catching, downsize. I typically fish Clam drop series jigs and go down to 1/32 and size 14 hook if they are swimming by and not biting. Red spikes are a better choice and a smaller profile than wax worms. There is always a lot of pressure on the bay and the triangle, but you can still find some good ones mixed in.

I had a tournament out on the Madison Chain of lakes on October 8th. We spent most of our time on menona since the lock to Mendota was out of service. The bite was really tough for us, and could not find fish off shore so resorted to fishing shallow. We found our best luck throwing buzz Baits and chatter baits over submitted vegetation and had some luck doing that. Our best bite came from a dying Lilly pad patch the we fished throwing buzz baits and we had a handful of nice blowups and caught some good fish doing that.

Overall it was a tough outing, but some areas of grass held some fish. We caught them frogging and punching grass, but the best bait was a swim jig around the docks in the morning. The wind was blowing pretty hard during the outing, and I got most of my bites in the dirty, windblown water around dock posts.

Fished the weed edges around the lake targeting 6-12 feet of water. Caught a lot of fish in the 2-3 pound range , fun method to put a lot of fish in the boat. Also good method to catch Muskie
