Lake Huron is currently running behind “normal” annual patterns for the lake. Fish are currently in a prespawn funk before they move up to beds. There are a few fish on bed near shallow boulder fields that are very big community holes, but not the large number that are typical for this time of year due to large cold fronts that have pushed through. Most bigger fish seem to be roaming near the first break from 2 to 4 foot of water or even out in 6 feet in a zombie-like state, not wanting to feed. Casting a small ned rig or hair jig is an effective way to target these roaming fish. Be sure to make long casts past the fish and work your bait back towards them so as not to spook them with your cast or the boat, otherwise they become very difficult to get to bite Green pumpkin or darker colored baits with a chartreuse ned head seemed to be the best way to make fish react to your lure and get them to bite

Throwing this frog in matted milfoil and other grass mixed in. Working it pretty quick over the top worked well. It didn't matter how shallow or deep the grass was, there was usually one in every mat.
