Find deeper holes or clearings in the hydrilla (offshore) and slowly tick the chatterbait with a Gambler Little EZ on the back off of the grass tops. If the bait gets caught up in the grass rip it free and hold on.

We caught fish in griffin offshore on shell with carolina rigs. I downsized to the mag finesse worm to get more bites while others would struggle to get bit with full sized magnum worms.

In a week of practicing I had the best day of practice on Lake Griffin. Many fish in the 2-3 pound range PLUS found an offshore hydrilla point that touched up to some good hard bottom that had a wad of big ones sitting on it. To catch them I used a 1 -2 punch of a Jackhammer Chatterbait along with a slowww good ol fashion Carolina Rig. I used the Chatterbait for the numbers approach on the large grass flats on the north end of the lake. That yielded some great keeper bites. Then as the day progressed the fish really set up in a sitation that i felt better about dragging that big worm through the middle of them. That produced my best quality bite of the day, a 5 pounder. Hopefully this info will help you get a couple extra bites on your next outing!
