There were fry guarders on the edges of mats. You were caching good fish if you didn't have gold flake in your worm, I don't know why. Caught some good fish on the frog most bites came on the pause. Won my tournament with 10.38lbs doing this.

Crappie
We were fishing jerkbaits under the crappie schools on a windblown island. We quickly caught our limit doing that and then moved to a rock reef and caught our kicker. The trick was you had to have a jerkbaits that dove under the schools of crappie. Otherwise you would catch the crappie and not bass.

Throw shallow crankbaits near rock with a slow retrieve. Thermocline was high so most bites were reactionary in 0-2' of water. Other techniques that worked: jigs, texas rigs, and chatterbaits all near sunken wood.
