A shad spawn seemed to take place in the morning, and as those fish began to move deeper in the water column, I would target schools of bait and individual fish with an A-rig

Catching them on offshore submerged hydrilla being used as staging areas for bass moving up and out. Ripping lipless worked until the bite slowed, then dragging larger swimming worms over the hydrilla.

As the week progressed, pressure started getting to our fish with all the boats around. These fish were seeing alot of reaction style baits and a lot of magnum full sized worms. When I downsized to the mag finesse worm, I caught a 5 pounder within a few casts. Throughout the rest of the day this worm would catch fish when nobody else was getting bit.

We caught alot of big fish using clumps of eelgrass in beauclaire in practice. We were slow rolling and working a swimjig through the tops of said eelgrass clumps. The grass clumps were in 5-7 foot of water and topped out around 3-4 feet under the surface.
