Got out on Lake Ann Sept 1st & Sept 8th. Frog bite was going well on the 1st... sunny day, light breeze. Plenty of fish bit in the lily pads, mostly where the main lake meets the long south bay. Most fish were smaller around 14" but a handful were nicer around 17". On the 8th, it was partly sunny and windy (10mph+) and the frog bite shut down... seems to be summer to fall transition as fish were all over the place. Picked one or two up on wacky rigs under docks, spinner bait, frog, dragging dark sleepers deep, and the best bite was deeper water 15-18' on the outside weed edge while throwing a deep diving crankbait. Natural colors worked best. jerkbait, chatterbait, and squarebills didn't do so hot. This lake has good numbers of bass in the 15-18" range.

This is a great lake for the kayak... Got on a good spinnerbait bite in late Sept. overcast & breezy. Fish were cruising shallow 1-6' deep. Caught about 20 bass between 17-20". Most went for a 3/8oz shad color double willow blade with a 3.8 keitech swimbait trailer. Smaller fish were hitting underspins. Bigger fish went for an upsized 1/2 oz spinnerbait as well as 6" swimbaits.

Had a great early morning bite. Was able to hook up 2 times but sadly was only able to land one 18.5 inch bass on the hula popper and lost one after he wrapped me up in some Lilly pads and spit the hook. You can’t win them all but it sure is fun trying!!! Over all a pretty good 4 hours of fishing

Went out Sunday evening of opener weekend. Submerged vegetation and lily pads haven't grown much yet. Water temp was 63-64 degrees. Looked in 3 spots where prespawn fish would likely be and it was quiet. Then went to see if Bass were up on beds and sure enough, pulled in a big female that had recently spawned on the first cast in that area. She chased down a white buzzbait with a Spunk Shad trailer. I then left that area alone and enjoyed the sunset as I paddled back to the access.

In 10’ of water. Great bite on the drop. Didn’t have time to do any retrieve. Caught 3 fish over 15” in 10 minutes.

Numbers were caught on a Texas rig around the color line, 8ft-11ft deep. When the wind was up and cloud cover was present, a squarebill ripped through the tops of the milfoil was getting bites in the same areas. Tried a dt10 on the weedline as well but only got 1 with that. A dropshot on the outside of the weedline was getting bites. The deep coontail 17ft-20ft was quiet today. Docks were holding good fish as well... the shad color senko has been the hotbait for wacky rig colors this year on Ann. A more subtle action was key, the rage menace outperformed the rage bug and Yamamoto cowboy by far today.

Bass are post-spawn. Partly sunny day with some wind, water temps are 65-66. Glide baits tend to work well on Lake Ann. Right now a lot of bass will cruise or set up on the inside weed line in 2-3ft of water and they go after the bluegills, especially along the east shoreline. Bluegills will have beds all over the place right up against shore. Trying to sight fish the bass is tough, they don't like when you get close. A drop shot along the weedline in 9-11ft was getting bit as well.
